Students could be immersed in an activity where they must ask for directions to a certain location if they become lost without a sense of direction. For instance being able to ask ‘ which way to the train station’ or ‘ excuse me, where are we’.
How VR can be implemented to support TLA in the classroom and independent learning
A VR scenario could be created that gives the student to ask questions and directions of virtual people. From the answers that are given, the students could then navigate through the virtual streets until they reach their destination. The scenario would give scope to include getting lost in the virtual streets, having to take a bus or a train, asking several people before finding someone that knows the required directions.
This activity could allow for students to develop key skills which they may need in the future, this could be critical in their future as they may very well encounter one of these situations.
