ESOL – In A Restaurant

Curriculum

Ordering from a menu.

How VR can be implemented to support TLA in the classroom and independent learning

Students may use VR to order from a menu, this could be in a restaurant or a more casual setting where students need to read the menu and then articulate their order well to ensure they can communicate effectively. Communication skills can also be enhanced by asking where the toilets are, which tables they can sit at etc. They will also be able to practice their maths skills paying the bill.

This allows students to immerse themselves within a scenario which they are likely to encounter in the real world.
