ESOL – Shopping Trip

Scenario

A further scenario which would help ESOL students in the classroom could be using basic mathematics skills in various real-life simulations.

How it can be implemented to support TLA in the classroom and independent learning

For instance, when in a shop, knowing how to calculate and engage with the shop assistant to pay for goods. This could be based in retail or indeed other stores where goods are purchased such as a supermarket.

This allows student to develop real-world maths skills which are vital in everyday life.
